with the help of two other buddys of mine we got the windshield in today. a secure job, two people hold the windshield steady, each on one side while the other(me) gets the glass to fit into the rubber, duration, about an hour and a half.still to come, the mounting of the chrome trim, a hard task!

running through all the pictures of the truck, i came across this one and wanted to share it with y'all. you see me in the truck , arriving home for the first time after just having bought it from someone who lives two hours away. the trip went really smoothly so that was an excellent test to know how it ran ;-) it was august 2004. on the rear sliding window you can see "te koop" , which means "for sale " .the front bumper had adent and so had the side fender. the truck was also raised on blocks, i hate that, so discarded that.you can also see a "tow" hook popping out from under the bumper , it looked like a pig s curled tail , guess it did the job, but i replaced it with "regular" ones, lol!oh yeah, and the windshield had a crack in it (don't they all, lol) memories...little did i know that i wouldn't be driving it anymore for the first 6 years, lol!

ok, today , important step forward, getn the chrome trim in the windshield rubber. this took me four hours, a lot of sweatin and cursin, lol!the chrome trim has to get into a "ditch" that is premade factory in the windshield rubber. it needs to get in there to get the rubber solid inbetween the glass windshield and the metal of the truck.the better the rubber connects with the glass andthe metal , the lesser water can crawl inbetween and cause leaks and eventually cause the truck to rust. My truck was rusty in the bottom corners, to be sure i will shut the rubber extra with tec7 .for now the trim is in, tomorrow the rest, lol! heres some pics: the windshield rubber the windshield rubber "ditch" here i started the process, you need lube and a tool to pull and push the trim in. i started at the bottom of the windshield in the middle. the tool: i would translate it into "trimpuller" but i'mnot sure if that's the correct english word... here the trim is in the rubber: the trim ends where it began, there's a small space inbetween the beginning and the end, a chrome cover will come over it. if you need to do it, lube well and take breaks , its a tough job to do!

Yes use water on the channel for the rubber and the chrome trim in the middle Popsicles stick works good or some of the plastic body trim tools. But glad you had lots of help Kurt. ;D

for someone who does or did that kinda job back in the day and was used doing it , i'm sure that person did it way faster, but for someone like me who'll do this hopefully!!! only once, it was a pain in the..., lol!i wish i had some help, lol! anyway, i take my time and know that the job eventually will get done i really had to go to some garages to ask for the tool, lots of garages don't have it anymore because windshields nowadays are like glued on the cars.but he who searches finds ey ;-)

Did you buy that trim tool just for that chrome trim that you had to put in the channel I just use my fingers some wood or plastic that work in the tight area that I need fix it in. But your right take your time once you get it stared it's not to bad. I not a window guy but the 73-87 windshield I like there not to bad to work on. A light soap water work well to but you have to try to rinse off the rubber before it starts to dry if the soapy water is to soapy make rubber to metal a little bit slippery hot moist days, in the channel where the chrome part goes it not as important. Oh I sorry Kurt I should say it looks good & you did a good job . Can I ask did you have a chance to test after it day to see if it leaks any wear in side. That the seal of approval

hey pontiac, i tested it this morning with a bucket of water, just pour it over the rubbers and every thing is still dry inside, lol! i borrowed the tool, i'll bring it back tomorrow, i didn't want to buy it , it is rather expensive still! like over 20 euros!today i will get the sunvisor on the truck, that will change a lot again!

hey peops, like i said, i mounted the sunvisor on the truck and to top it off my codename is on the winshield as well, lol! i bought the sunvisor a couple of years ago and got it painted back then as well; in the same color as my roof.Holes were pre drilled, i used tec 7 to make sure no water will enter the cab through the holes. on top of the screws i used chrome caps i had lingering around , they came originally with my license plate frames. here's the pics: and here with my sticker on the windshield

Sweet build, and i just noticed that you're all the way in Belgium. I assume those trucks are a little hard to find over there, correct?

Very country boy-ish truck ya got there. Believe me, I live in South Georgia, which is the redneck capital of the south, haha.
But my town has a drag strip so alot of the trucks around here are surprisingly more street/race truck inspired.
We still have our share of jacked up 4X4s, though!
You guys ever use your CB's over there?
