hey rally, my girlfriend, lives in Alabama, in the Bham region ,i'll move there probably at the end of this year, at least early next , i' ve seen some country boy trucks, lol! been to georgia too, to atlanta. truck will be shipped over . maybe you'll see me somewhere on the I 65 someday we do have cb's over here , i never used it but i will have one installed in the truck, so, very soon i will start to learn how to use that. i guess we use the FM band here, i'll have an american cb in the truck, a texas ranger, nothing very fancy, more a classic model, but i like that, it goes with the truck ey. we do need to pay an annual fee here in bgum to use it, how about in the usa?do you use the AM band? Breaker Breaker

We don't have to pay anything here to use it. To the best of my knowledge (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know much about radio personally) but the CB band over here is a different band than FM/AM because of the fact that FM/AM is commercial radio stations.
All I really know is that ours go from appr. 26.9 to 27.4 MHz and is divided into 40 channels. Channel 9 is the emergency channel and Channel 19 is generally used for highway usage (truck drivers and escorts).
Military and government uses frequencies above and below those frequencies, and the FCC will get on your ass if you modify your radio to pick up the lower/higher frequencies.
That's all I really know. lol.
And that's cool that you're moving to the states. You're gonna be moving to Bama with your girlfriend? If so, hit me up sometimes, we'll meet up, work on some trucks, have some drinks, race em and such!

Also, meant to ask, can you run your windshield without the trim, or is it essential to sealing it properly? Mine is old, cracked, and nasty looking. I know LMC makes black trim, but I figured that if I can run the strip without the trim, why spend the extra money...

hey rally, we can def. do that, meet up once i'm there! it's good for me to get to know new people and make new friends. about the windshield, i have the custom rubber ,the chrome trim is necessary for that, without it, the rubber is open espescially around the corners.you can buy a black trim too. BUT you can buy the standard rubber , that is without trim. costs: custom rubber and trim: $49.95 standard rubber no trim: $39.95

Oh alright, sweet. Thanks for the info.
I'm not big on the chrome on the front. I like it on the back, so i guess I'll be half-assed.

I also have a 1980 Sierra Grande. I'm trying to find a place to purchase the quarter panel emblems, (Sierra Grande 25) to be exact. Anyone have any ideas? I've checked LMC, per their magazine and online cataloge, they don't have them.

i bought my emblems on e bay. i don't always wait till it's presented on e bay,i look for people on e bay who sell parts for my type of truck and then i write them a friendly letter where i ask them if they don't happen to have this or that part they wanna sell. it takes time and patience, my emblems are new out of the box 1980 original! no lmc emblems! just dumb luck, got them on e bay.

the way i do it: -take a pic with your digital cam -hook up the cam on your pc -i have a programm called photoshop to risize the pics, make em smaller, easier to upload -go to"photobucket"(google it) -upload pics from your pc to photobucket -once your pic is in your photobucket slide over it with your pointer, a pop up will appear under the picture, it will say :email & im, direct link, html code, image code. -roll over image code, click on it, a proramm text next to that will light up in blue, click on that with your right mouse knob.copy it -reply on whatever it is you want to reply to ere on the site or start a new topic, while writing text you can paste in your picture. that's it

Hey Texas, question for you. Your truck is so bad a$$, how in the world do you have all this time to work on it?! Are you single? Do you have kids? I don't mean to pry, but jesus, it always seems like your working on that thing. I also meant to ask, have you ever lived in texas, or have you always lived in belgium? It looks awsome. Your attention to detail is rediculous (sp?). I would love to work on my truck as much as you do. I'm still tinkering with loading my images. I'm curious to how mine stick out with yours size wise. Your obviously looks much better then mine though. What size motor and tranny do you have? Hopefully mine will get there one day.
