The other day when I turned on my wipers, the washer pump started pumping fluid, it would only stop when I turned off wipers. The universal pump that Murray's sells is not correct. Can I repair this myself, or do I have to buy a whole new wiper motor with washer pump on it? Seems stupid, when I had my 1971 Chevelle SS, it seems that I was able to purchase the whole washer assembly as a unit, pump and all. You know..... everything under the black housing on the motor. My friend said all his chevy's do what mine does, and told me to live with it. I don't own stock in a washer fluid company.......Help! Winter is fast approaching..........

I just unplugged one of the plugs whilst wipers were working an plugged it back in, now everything acts like new? Squirters work when they should and wipers work like they're supposed to. Problem solved?

;D Well well that was good job ;)a little investigative work . Oh in answer to your question about the washer pump on there .There is kits there hard to come buy now a days or find a parts guy that know about them or can help you . But ask your parts guy first if not the good thing is that there is ( Standard "companyparts name" parts that make a lot of part still for the after market for re placement factory parts, car and trucks. Now the other good thing is 73-87 wiper washer pumps are all most all the same just the out side angle part for where the hoses attaches (think there was three or four types). you can look in something like any chevelle auto re-store part place.other makes to GM mostly for GM brands. Now some of the newer models if they still use the same style. But you will have to work or come paring to see. Oh there is the post I made on wipers for lubing checking. here "might be time to clean lube: bowtieguy.proboards.com/thread/542/wiper-problem

Already looked at that post, figured I would search this site, before asking questions. I don't like reposting same questions, no matter how long ago it was originally posted.

I can always put, generic washer bottle with pump in truck and put push button somewhere on dash. Done that with my old 1966 dodge A - 100 mid engine van I used to own. Washers were optional. I used squirt nozzle from 1965 Karman Ghia, and bottle from 1979 junkyass junky a$$ f@#d, got big white push button from Murray's auto parts and ended up with funtional system. Alot of people said my van was made by Forge..........
