My buddy from work has a 93 1/2 ton with a V/6 and a five speed. He's having trouble with the whole thing shutting off after it warms up.... Any ideas?

The most common cause of those symptoms is a cracked, or bulging mainshaft inside the distributor.
Pull the cap, pull the rotor, look down to the base, and you will see the magnet on the mainshaft. What happens is the magnet cracks right where the rivet holds in down. This gives the ECM erratic signals, and causes all kinds of driveability problems.
Be sure to look at it closely, even if the magnet isn't cracked, it may be starting to bulge, causing you grief.

this may sound stupid, but a had a 85 chevy that did the same thing, problem fuel filter, when the trucked warmed up a it shut off, when it was cold it would start, replaced the filter never had that problem again
