does one of you know if i could take a piston from an eighty six 305 motor and put it in an older roller 305 without having it bored or anything?

As I recall, 305's all had the same bore size. Just to make sure, though, you may want to measure it. I'd also check the distance from piston top to the center of the wrist pin. The two engines may have differing compression ratios, and you'd want to make sure you are using the same compression piston. Depending on how much wear is on the engine, you will also want to make sure the cylinder bore is true. Sometimes engines will wear in an oval shape (hard to detect without micrometer) and if you put a round piston in a worn cylinder, you'll have compression and oil-burning issues.
