This coming weekend I plan to start my gas tank swap, removing the dual saddle tanks in favor of a 28 gallon blazer gas tank. I am hoping to get some good pictures of this. Keep checking back to see how it comes out. The following link is a site that I found from someone that has done this already. So I hope to use some of these tips when doing mine. www.captkaoscustoms.com/blazertank.html

Sounds like a good idea BTG. The old '77 I had only come with a single 16(?) gallon tank. I was at the gas station every other day.

Well I am currently only using one tank also since the valve and switch is bad. The tank was given to me, best price around, so instead of spending the money on a new vavle and switch I figure I'd use it to install the new tank. :givebeer:

It's late, I know, But I wasn't able to work on the swap. chevyheaven's driveway to shop was too muddy to get in to so it's been postponed to after the rain is gone and drive dries up. Sorry for the delay but I will get this done soon. :comfort:

I hate to say but the Blazer gas tank swap has been put off for a while now due to inspection of the free tank. There is rust inside of the gas tank so I have decided to what till funds allow the purchase of a new tank to perform the swap with. But as soon as it does happen, and it will, I will be sure to make plenty of pictures and post them along with details on the swap.

Any news on the gas tank swap? I've got the 2 saddle tank set-up with a broken valve, one tank that leaks out the bottom, and the other leaks out the fill hole. I've been thinking about putting a fuel cell in the bed (countersunk), but if your idea works, I'd sure like to look into it for my truck.

Does anyone know the status of this swap, or has anyone ever done it? I found a blazer style 25 gal tank on Nationwide Body Parts.com, and it seemed to be a reasonable price (around $100). They did not have the gas tank straps for this tank, though. If I get the tank, and then find some straps for it, will it fit between the frame rails, using the Blazer tank straps? Or would I have to fabricate some tank straps? I know the plumbing might be a little interesting (like getting the fill neck to the existing hole(s) on the side, but I think I can work it out. Any words are appreciated!

Hey guys I'm new to this forum. There is a company in California called performance online. They are using my 78 chevy s/b to build a new tank for the 73-87 trucks. It will be a 21 gallon tank that sits between the frame railsof the truck. you should be able to use your stock filler neck location or have a enter bed fill location. This tank will also be available through Brothers truck parts. I'm not exactly sure when the tank will be ready to sell. I have told them about this forum and may post when it is available.
hope this can help someone. Stan
