Please feel free to put in your 2 cents!!!
Haven't added up a detailed price list yet, but I'm trying to decide between this:
--Converting to a late model LS1 engine (with plans to upgrade of course!) or --Building up my 4-bolt main using aftermarket multi-port fuel injection, aluminum heads, etc...
I have a couple of friends who have "built" LS1's that run like scalded-ass apes! This is a major reason I'm interested in the conversion. These engine are very efficient, especially when compared to TBI with cast iron heads.
Please fire away!!!

Not sure hard choice if your looking save gas & make power think the LS1 might be the one, If you can get all the parts @ a good price and all the stuff you need. Unless you have most of the other stuff might be cheaper do the other. I guess it really depends what engine you really like the look of under your hood.

I think overall an LS1 would look better just because it's so different. But looks aren't everything!
If the 4-bolt block is built:
Stroker crank(383" or 396"), AFR heads, rods&pistons, Comp roller cam&lifters, Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers, Edelbrock Super Victor intake plumbed for multi-port fuel injection, you get the idea!
If the LS1 is bought and built:
Big cam, springs, hardened pushrods, Patriot heads, EFILive, N2O, etc... (Because of purchase price, would probably leave short block alone unless high mileage)
Just in case you're wondering, yes, I'm tired of looking at tail lights!!!

I personally like the LS1 idea. With the technology of the injection system and efficiency of that motor, it is just a really nice package.
I guess everything there depends on how cheap you could find one for. They sure aren't easy to find smokin good deals on!
