I have a '73 gmc with a cigarette lighter that doesn't work. I bought a new socket and lighter and discovered the wire for it isn't there. (truck was pieced together in past by previous owners) So I need to run a new wire to this socket. I tried running a wire from a constant source in the fuse panel to the socket with an inline fuse of 15amps. But the fuse keeps blowing as soon as I put it in? Even without plugging the lighter into the socket the fuse blows ? any suggestions on what I should be doing ?

**Re: cigarette lighter** I believe It should be 25 amp or 30 amp and or it's shorting out at socket ( the out side is the ground the center is power). check to see if the in side prong's not touching side walls . I double check the amps post it .
