I have a 85 c10 shortbed. I need some pointers on a few things. I am trying to put a turbo 350 inplace of my 4spd granny tranny. Do i need to change the cross member? also will the starter off a manual fit an automatic? I have a 2 piece driveshaft now, will that have to change? Thanks alot Phil

Well not sure on the whole thing, but the drive shift should be ok . Do you have the 350 trans yet. The cross member should be fine might need new rubber mount for the center depending what on the manual trans. most times it depends on the starter bolt on pattern or the gear housing length( might be longer or shorter ) There is two starter mainly used 350TH the older little bigger has 168 tooth set up drive, & 152 tooth set up drive little smaller. 350TH flex plate 168 teeth or 152 teeth, with then goes back to the block is it set up for both starter bolt patterens . Now you have a 1985 block most of them would have at less the 152 tooth set up starter. But they did come both ways, but the norm was 152 tooth set up drive
If you have the 350 trans all ready do you have the flex plate. I would measure the top of the bell housing of the trans to the tail, if it's with in a 1 to 1-1\2 of the other trans. You should be ok with the drive shift. This is all i can think of right now.

The 350 tranny i have is a short tail shaft out of a car, i was told from the guy who i got it from. I was also told that the manual cross member wont work because the tranny will be at a differnt angle than suppose to be at. I did order a TCI flexplate from jegs that is a 152 tooth. I dont know if my starter will fit. Its a heavy SOB though. So it must be the big one. what size converter do i need for a stock 305, stock ca,m?
