Has anyone had any experience with After Market sway bars?
1. Would the make a big difference in handling or would a simple bushings swap with the factory sway bar be just as good?
2. Would it possible be stiffer that stock.
I plan on doing the upper and lower contol arm bushings and thought that I may as well do the sway bar bushings also or just install a new bar. Any help is great or just thought>>MAT

I do not have any experience with After Market sway bars! But I can tell you that if you do not have one in the front you can put on one smaller one that most of the 1/2 tons could have and you will see & feel a difference if you put one of the bigger ones off a heavier bigger truck you will see a better feel, but just remember you have to have the shocks and the springs / bushing & for the sway bars too new parts. For the set up to help work with all those part as a team to get the best feel and performance. If you truck has a factory sway bar & the bushing are old and shoot you will see a big different with new sway bar bushing maybe up grade them to poly. That would be cheap and then you can go from there.
For the rear you have to get after market for a truck or suburan saybar and adopt it to the truck.

Ya I have the shocks and springs. I am going to put energy bushings on my upper and lower control arms. I'm sure that it will make a big differance. I just wasn't sure what I was going to do with the Sway bar. Its a tough call I'm thinkin either way would help cause I'm pretty sure all the bushings are factory. I'll let you know what I decide and the out come>> thanks for the advice

Kool would like to see what you do or hear on the set up. if you put energy bushings for the sway bar make sure it the newer grease-able type you will like them better. I know my first set on the car I wish they had them then. I do like the Energy bushings .

Thought I would hold off on the sway bar for now. Depending on the size of the original. If its a small bar I will go after market. If its the big one i'll just get bushings. I did get control arm bushing instead cause I think those will make a bigger differance.

I have an after market procomp sway bar on my 87 1/2 ton blazer. It makes a world of difference for on-road driving. you will lose some of the off-road flex but you can correct that by getting quick disconnects for the sway bar. My friend has a 91 suburban with out one and he has to take cornors alot slower. Hope this helps.

I have an 81 that is lowered 5 in the front and 7 in the rear. I did not have a sway bar the truck rolled really bad in the corners. I went to a junk yard and took one off a 1/2 ton truck 1 1/16 bar what a difference it made like it was on rails.;
