Hey guys and gals, how is everyone. I have my steering box out of my 86 GMC, I have to take the pitman arm off, due to getting excited taking my truck apart and ended up screwing the threads on the pitman arm going into the sway bar. the whole arm has already spun around, not sure how many times , I have the shaft going to the steering column off, and one of my Buddy's was over picking and poking, no what I mean....lol and spun the pitman arm around, as long as I put the pitman arm back on the same threads of the steering box, as it is now as say, should it just go back to where it suppose to when hooked back up to the sway bar, or does it matter as long as the steering wheel is straight when put back in. I'm going to mark the relation of the arm to the steering box as it sits now, Hope someone understands what I'm saying...lol, hard to put it down.
Also when I took the shaft off it, the rubber that the shaft connects to is still on there, I see a bolt on the side of it, does this piece just slide off or is it pulled off with a puller, and does it only go back into one spot when putting it back together, I'm asking this as I have cleaned or sandblasted every part on this truck and want to make sure its as clean as possible
Thanks alot for responses

ok do you mean the threads on the steering box or the ones on the tie rod? if the shaft that goe's into the steering box (the shaft that connects to the steering wheel) moves it matters turn it as far as it can go left or right does'nt matter.the turn it back the oppisite way and count the turns (every 360 degrees is one turn) you should get 5 turns i think so.when you can turn it 2 1/2 turns each way it's centered.hope this helps
