The 12" lift i have on my truck I think is a superlift. My dad was looking at it this week and he seems to think that it wasn't installed correctly. He said something about one shackle being stationary and one being set at an angle and being able to move. I have no idea what he is talking about. Does anyone know about this stuff? He said the way it is set up it will be a very rough ride.

On trucks, and cars, with leaf spring suspension there is a shackle on the back side of the leaf spring connecting it to the frame. This allows the spring to move during flex. The front side of the spring should be mounted stationary to the frame. On the front of 4X4's the same is true but usually the shackle is in the frront of the springs. :givebeer:

Thats what I needed to know The front shackle points towards the axle instead of straight up or away. How do I correct this without having to remove the whole thing?

The leaf springs might be the wroing length or just worn out. I'm not 100% sure though so I'ld call someone who makes springs and try and find out what the length should be and what you have. It's a start. Keep us posted as to whats going on.

I've heard of "shackle bind" where the spring droops soo far that the shackle actually reverses direction. In alot of cases this is fixed by simply just jacking up the truck to full droop, then move the shackle forward as you lower the truck back down. If you don't have it already, a bolt in the middle of the shackle trough both plates will keep it from happnin' again. I hope this helps

The lift is a brand new Superlift supposedly installed by a shop. No receipts so I'm not sure. Do if I understand this right I just need to jack up the front end of the truck and make sure as I lower it that the shackle is pointing in the wrong direction and if that doesn't work tey putting a bolt in the middle? The lift and tires have never seen the road so I am not sure how it drives. There aren't very many places that deal with lifted trucks so I have no clue as to who to call.

LOL I couldn't tell you, because it won't open the page. I will try to find a digital camera that I can take a pic with. Us OKies here aren't up-to-date with all of this high tech stuff. :bash:
