Alrighty, I read over the re-wiring of the 700r4 on numerous post pages, including this one, and still havn't figured it the heck out.
So, I'm gonna ask again, for a little more detail, and see if wiring this thing up is going to do what I think it's supposed to do or if I'm just wasting my time.
On my tranny-- I do not have the ABCD plug showing any letters. anyone have a diagram of what it is supposed to look like? I do have three wires coming from the plug. One hot when ignition is on, and two that show no polarity at all. I read somewhere to hook these two together (presumably 1 is 12- and the other a negative ground). all that did was blow my fuses when I switched them together.
What I think is supposed to happen is that you can lock the torque converter at any time by switching on the solenoid. Therefore, if I'm correct (please correct me if I'm not) a guy should be able to lock the converter in ANY gear. As I pull a large trailer or boat everyday, I would love to be able to lock it in 3rd to keep the temps down. My cooler isn't keeping up.
At this point, without tearing into the tranny to find out for sure, I'm assuming I have an always hot line to the solenoid, with the ground being controlled by whatever switches and garbage that came from the factory controlling it. Would this mean that my "switch" is always "on" or always "off?" Can I wire this up so as not to have to change the switch?
Anybody else have any ideas on this? Opinions? Corrections?

I used the information at bowtie overdrives to make decisions on how tot install my 2004r. they were great. follow this link to the 700r4 page www.700r4.com/tech/tcc/index.shtml and you can find just about everything and anything you need including one of the best tv cable setups you can buy. yea they are a bit expensive. however, so is a new trans when you blow the mother up from heat/incorrect wiring, or in-proper tv setup.

To answer your question, I know that you can indeed wire your lock up with a switch, but I believe that you need to remove your pan and replace a solenoid and internal wire harness. as I mentioned in the last reply, bowtie overdrives has a complete kit that will bypass the computer, lock up automatically in fourth gear, and allow you to manually lock up in second or third gear, its about $70.00 and you need to pull the pan, but it works great without a problem! check it out and let me know what you think
