So I'm trying to plan out my prject here... I want to do a 73-87 longbed 4x4 automatic. Unfortunately in Massachusetts, the only thing we got is 2wd autos and 4x4 sticks... nothing else.
I'm thinking of buying a 4x4 stick and converting it to an auto. As I understand it, I'd only have to worry about moving the crossmember around, whoop de doo it just bolts in. And the cab would have the high hump in the middle for a shifter, but who cares... I'll prolly stick an auto shifter there somehow.
Am I way off base here, or am I correct in how easy I think it'll be? The bellhouse patterns would match, transfer case just bolts up, shifter needs to be done, maybe need new driveshafts, and crossmember needs to be moved...right?

[glow=limegreen,2,300]Gonna need the adapter from the transfer case to the auto tranny and the drivelines will be shortened in the rear, and lengthened in the front. Might also need a longer speedo cable and a tranny cooler and lines and a new flexplate and torque converter. ,[/glow]

Oh screw it, I'll just get the stick... BUT I'm gonna put in air ride seats out of a big rig, and lay em flat on the floor... and that shifter is gonna be practically sticking out of that dang roof. If I'm gonn have a manual I gotta do it right.
