Well, I finally am going to get a rear axel assembly, but the guy can't remember if it is a 2.42 or a 3.08, anyway we will be making a trade, mine for his. Also he doesn't remember if it is 10 or 12 bolt. What I want to know is, is there any difference in number of splines in my driveshaft for this swap, I think he said rear axel is from out of 1988 1/2 ton Chevy pickup. I will find out Sunday either at church or after church Can anyone tell me if this would work or not? We both have 5 bolt wheels, both being 15". thanks for replies........Larry

I wont swear to it but I have been told the rear axles from 88 and newer trucks are not as wide from side to side as the axles on our trucks. I would measure drum to drum your axle and the axle you are swapping for to check it, also check the distance apart on the spring perches on the axle housings.

you are so right Bowtie guy, the axle was too short for my truck by about 2 inches and nothing else was right either. Thanks for the input
