Sorry bout not posting in awhile, but have been sooo busy. The 3.08 that I put into my truck did not make a hill of beans as far as mpg. Just yeasterday I went on a 160 mile all freway trip, and all I got was 10.5 mpg's . My truck seemed rather sluggish upon acceleration, and after I was up to 60 or 65 mph, when I goosed it a bit to pass a slower driver, it seemed to take forever to get going faster. I noticed that as it was warming up, it would rythmatically send out a steam ring ( as in blowing smoke ring from tobbacco product ) but it is cold here, so it is steam for sure. I think it is misfiring. Also I think former owner maynhave retarded the timing to get rid of knock while towing 7,000 lb. 5th. wheel. He said he never drove it over 65mph. No noises anymore from rear end and that is good . I think it is possible that the former owner may not have ever changed plugs under A/C compressor, as they are very difficult to get at, but I know I have to get at them from under the wheel tub, maybe use hole saw to make access holes for straight through shot at them, then make rubber covers for the holes. My truck had the air horn modified for warm weather highway driving. The stove and heat tube have been removed. I have tube but not manifold stove ( it rusted away ). Could this be my problem? Could it also be my quadrajet needing adjustment? '78 Big Ten 350 cui, TH 350 Long Bed, 235 75/R 15 tires, also needs alignment BAD and front tires ( toe is in on left front ) Since I changed out rear axle to 3.08, I seem to have lost any passing gear past 30 mph, and feel no oompah after that speed once it kicks out and I try again, ( it kicks out at about 65mph, if I don't let up on it ). I better do tune up and timing check, before anything else, it is cheaper that route. Thanks for any help
