I have a 85 c10 swb....305 with an hei dist.....I dont think the vaccum advance is working right.... how do i know if it isnt working and is it really making my gas milage nutsty.....thanks

The best way to tell if a vacuum advance is working is disconnect the vacuum line from it and see if the engine rpms drop. If you cant tell a difference in it the you can use a timing light. When you disconnect the vacuum line you will see a change in the timing mark. Yes if it is not working it can make your gas mileage poor and nutsy.

thanks man thats very good info, perfect......well its not working then, but i had bought a brand new HEI dist. That i havent put on yet, so what i did was take all the insides out of the new one and pet them on the old one, if you know what i mean.....i am real nervous about pulling the distributer out, it may never run right again...lol.....so i hope this new vac adv will help it out some.....thanks again
