Hi , I have been busy installing the steering pump, a few questions if possible.. About the bracket: -Like you see it on the picture, the top left hand mounting hole comes right above the water pumps right arm (if you stand before your engine, looking at it) , there is a hole for it, -(back to the pic of the pump)the top right hand mounting hole needs to be attached on the original bracket that is on the exhaust manifold problem I am putting performance headers on my engine and the original bracket doesn't fit anymore.. I have bought the following bracket instead: This goes on the performance headers but it's not good, I think this is for an axial compressor or something, do you have any idea what I should use or what bracket I need ? -back to the picture of the steering pump, you cannot see it very well on this picture but under the pump on the bracket there is also mounting space but to what ? I guess its a triangle form of a bracket that I need to mount the underside on the engine, do you know what I mean? -final question, picture of the steering pump,on the bracket, left side, next to the pulley , the bracket is shaped there, like there is something that should fit in there, what is it for?a friend of mine has a similar looking bracket on his steering pump but on his, this is another mounting hole. Friendly regards, Kurt Kryture@msn.com

When I installed headers on my truck I used the 2 mounting holes on the left side 1 top 1 bottom, to mount the pump. I didn't use the one on the right that goes to the exhaust. My pump isn't mounted solid and the belt will squeal but only when I turn the steering wheel full lock to either side. I have also ran my engine up to 5k rpm and the belt hasn't jumped off yet. I have seen people use like a small diameter pipe cut to length and use it as a spacer with the stock exhaust manifold bolts when bolting on headers to use the stock bracket also. Neither one of these are the best ideas but work will without spending any money. In my opinion the best why to fix this is get a completely new mounting system like from March, but they are kind high in price. Another alternative is to find a serpentine system off a donor car in the junk yard. Just make sure you don't get one with a reverse flow water pump system. If you do choose to go with the serpentine system, one off the 4.3 liter vortec engines work on small blocks also. As for the spot in the middle left side of the pump there is nothing that fits into there, I think its clearance for the water pump.
