hey all y'all, this time i have a question about buying valve covers. i have now on my V8 350ci , the original valve covers but i want to buy these chrome valve covers. i have found sets that will fit my engine but i was wondering,on the original valve covers i have an oil cap but on the chrome set there is only one hole in each cover , the set says it will fit my 350 engine as well as the year of the engine 1975. is the extra oil cap hole not neccessary?

It will. It should come with the rubber grommets. I use one for my filler and one for my pcv valve. If it don't have grommets then I know MrGasket.com has them.

hey, thanks for your fast reply i will use one hole for the pcv valve but for the other hole there is also a breather cap in the set(the rubber grommets are there too).i guess if i have to fill 'r up, i 'll remove the pcv valve or the breather cap and put oil in and then put everything back in place, is that ok? yes, i guess...

Yes that right, ( you hit it on the head ) Most of them aftermarket company's do not put the oil filler style cap like the GM did. Just to clean up the top of the valve cover.

i have mounted my valve covers, looks awesome,( really need to put on some pics)i will use one hole for the pcv valve and the other one has the breather cap( one rubber grommet was open and one wasn,t??) but i think that when i 'll have to refill oil, it will take a while because where the holes are , when you turn over the covers there is like a filter under each hole and since oil is thicker than water i guess it will take a while to flow through. is this normal?

on mine i have the pcv valve right there and my filler on the other side where the filter is not on. U should be able to switch the grommets out.

the rubber grommets are no problem but on each valve cover is a filter.
one cover i will use for the pcv valve with filter and in the other cover i'll put the breather cap.one rubber grommet is closed on one end and the other grommet i can see through.so i'll use the open one for my pcv valve and maybe i should cut the closed end of of the other grommet to use with the breather cap(i think the closed one is normally used with the oil cap)but all i had was two rubber grommets, two valve covers, engine dipstick, gaskets and wingnuts for the covers, timing cover and the breather cap.there is in each cover only one hole.

That the baffle for the valve cover to stop the oil from blowing out the opening, A lot of the cheaper one will not have them or you will have to buy them if you want them. Oh these are on the in side right.
The rubber grommet that closed you cut the end off flush if the baffle is on the that one to, if there no baffle cut a rectangle in the center 5 or 8mm wide so there a little bit of a lip on both sides & about 3mm at both end's. By the way if you only have one baffle make sure you have it on your breather side has it. This I believe to be the better way but, if any one has reason it should go the other way please tell.
