Im obviously a newbie on here and was recently given an 84 gmc LWB with a 305. Body is super straight but thinking of converting to a SWB and rebuildling the 305 and adding a little power to it. It would be my first rebuild and my first project truck. I know that upgrading to a 350 would give me more horses and would be a huge upgrade, but free is free and as a first project I am going to start with the 305 and see how far I can take it as almost all mods can be put onto a 350 at a later time. As this is my first solo rebuild and it is a free truck I dont want to sink a lot of money into it right now. I would like to make it a fun street truck for the weekends and for showing off. Any recommendations on build ups?

I wouldnt put money into that 305, just get a 350 and sell that 305. you wouldnt regret putting the money into that 350 instead of the 305.
