i have a 600 edelbrock and was told that a spacer would make it run better is this correct. and which one do i need for edelbrock? and would it help get better mileage?

I put a 2" spacer on my Holley 650 Dual Line Double Pumper, I did not notice a difference.

I would run one from Mr. gasket company not because I recommend them but because I have always run and sold them...And I have never heard a complaint on them either...But I never have had a plastic one that didn't crack so I'd go with the metal ones if it were me..

The Three main thing the spacer are used for 1. to give you more room for the linkage. 2. to give carb a little more on the upper rpms / get a little heat away from the carb 3. to give the air more time to entery Manifold to the cylinders

the purpose of a carb spacer is for two reasons. more high rpm power or more torque.
the open spacers get you the high rpm power. the ones with four holes get you torque. they also make combo units, that clam to do both. but the only true way to figure out if a spacer will help, is a dyno machine.

Well think of it as a extension of the intake but with extra gaskets. If your got stock intake, it can give you idea how a taller intake will act. If you do have a edelbrock performer intake, the next intake the same would be edelbrock performer RPM witch is all most around the 1\2 " taller the the edelbrock performer intake, these are duel plane intakes example for that style. The first intake"performer" is good from 800 rpm to 5000rpm. The second intake"performer RPM" is good from 1500 rpm to 6500rpm. This all so depends on the cam and other parts. So more gaskets more chances for leaks (spacers) . You can find out by going to drag strip to. The spacers are mostly used for track driven cars who did not have the intake they need or do not make tall enough for there combo & range want or need. The combo is the big thing. There are three main types of spacers, there is many company's that make them.
