I have always beena GM guy. My dad raised me that way. My son is soon to turn 16 in June and I bought him a 1984 K10 silverado. It was a one owner truck here in Pennsylvania. Of course it has some rust but not too bad and looks great. Only 80k miles on it. We are going to work on it as a father/son project. I already had to replace all of the vaccum/emission hoses and cap/rotor/plugs/wires etc to get it running smooth. Carb rebuild is next! The truck is all stock. Can anyone tell me what the largest size wheel/tire combo is that I can install without lifting the truck? I found some really good deals on used 17" rims with 265/75R17 tires and would like to know if they will fit. I know the bolt patttern and spacing are correct. Any guidence would be great. Thx

When I bought my truck (1980 GMC Sierra Grande) it was all stock as well. It had 16.5 in rims on it and I wanted new tires of course. So I bought new rims and tires. I put 31 10.50/15 on mine and they worked good. We had to grind on my calipers a little, but nothing to major. Not sure if yours is 2wd or 4wd, but I wouldn't put anything bigger then a 31 inch tire on there. (Without putting some sort of lift on it) Good luck to you and your son. I would have loved it if I could have hung out with my dad to build my cars.

I guess I didn't fully answer your question. Yes, I think they will fit. My bad.

Thanks for the help! The truck is a 4wd by the way, sorry I forgot that fact.

Welcome to the board. I think those should fit but it's the front you will have to check for turns if they rub (at full turn and any lean on the the body when they start getting big) you might have to play with rim size 17x6 or 17x7.5 and tire profile i.e. 75 or 70 try. This link may help you a bit but you will still have to check full trun with the body lean to see if the tire will rub any place .www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

I've got bfg all terrains mounted on stock 16.5 rim. 33x12.5x16.5 is the size. No lift, tires fit fine.
