hi guys im new to this so id appreciate your help first ill start by telling you what i have its a 1984 chevy k10 4x4 my truck specs are 1987 350 bone stock minus edelbrock 600 carb and performer intake. im running 3.08 gears with a gm goodwrench 700r4. dual 2 1/4 exhaust with longtube headers and summit glasspack mufflers. suspension rancho 3 inch lift with 35/12.50/15 tires. really i only have 3 questions 1 being i want to cam it up but dont really know what to use, my truck is also my work truck so i need something i can still pull a trailer with and go down the highway at 70 without taking 10 mins to get there like it does now. my second question would be ive had it timed in like 3 times now and still every so often it will deisal when i shut it down and that cant be good for it. so i was looking for some ideas on that the motor only has 31,000 on it. 3rd question is i cant get no real power out of it when i stomp it the rpms go up real slow and it shifts kinda hard into second gear i was told maybe torque converter but im looking for more ideas there too. the only thing i dont want to change is the gears im happy with my gas mileage ;D thanx for all your help in advance

As far as cams go i have always liked the crane and comp cams. I would go with a cam that makes good power from idle through the powerband. look at comp cams 4x4 cams. I would recommend one that gives low end torque which is what a daily driver/towing rig needs, especially with the stock motor. Get matching springs and new lifters if you get a new cam. Sometimes the carb can cause a motor to diesel after shutdown but check the timing and valve adj.
