I finally completed my project. I had an 84 GMC4X4 that had a lot of rust and nothing except for heat as extras go.
During my wishful thinking process I came across a real nice 87 2WD with a rod knock. I got a real nice deal so I decided to buy it and use the sheet metal off of the 87 and put it on my 84.
I will say it was a neat project that took me a lot more time than I thought it would (oh, and a heck of a lot more money too)
What I now have is a 84 4X4 GMC that now has AC, Tilt, PW, PL, and soon to have remote mirrors. I purchased the lock and window wiring and mechanical parts off of E-Bay. I also added a 2" Cowled Hood and the fiberglass cap that came with the 84.
I also purchased a 95 Fuel Injected engine from a salvage yard to help speed the project up. I hope to completely rebuild the 87 engine, but I'm not a fan of the 305 CI Engines, so I have my eye on a neighbors 94 GMC with a rebuilt 350 that I can get the computer and the wiring I need to make it right. But right now mine runs great, and I'm still recuperating my fund department before I make any farther investments in my baby.
If I knew how to add photo's I'd show a few while I had the trucks apart, and going back together.
I just wanted to let you all know I did finally complete this project (even though I'll most likely never really finish it because I keep playing)
