i just went through this about a year ago changing my k10 to 3/4 ton status. your best bet is to look for a chevy between the 73-78 yrs in a 3/4 ton. the one tons are nice but they are hard to find in a single wheel and they are little more work as you have to relocate your spring pads on the rear 14 bolt because the 1 tons are spaced out wider. in those years the fronts where dana 44 and they are stronger than the 10 bolt 8 lugs used in later years. and also the gearing may be a bit closer to what you are looking for. most in those years were either 4.10 or 4.56 in the 3/4 ton no matter what the motor or transmission i lucked out and found a 76 3/4 with 4.10 gears and only paid 300 dollars for both, and the rear was a posi unit. so just take your time because there are quite a few of them out there that havent been crushed yet.
