I have a 1978 C10 Big10, standard cab, A/C, AM/F/M cassette radio(panasonic cheapo) How is my heater and A/C controlled, ie, vacuum or cables? When I move lever to floor heat only, heat comes out mid level vents more than floor, when I move lever to defrost only, heat comes out mid level more than defrost, when I move lever to regular heat, for mid level, heat comes out floor vent more than mid level. What gives/ Also the mid level vent just to the right of the steering wheel hardly ever has anything coming out of it. When I have A/C on, I get the same results with the control. Now, I believe that the top of the dash had been removed to install radio and electric trailer brake. Is it possible that some vent tubes were knocked off from where they go? Thanks for any info....Larry

I pretty sure it vacuum but it easy to take out the heater control just slide it out enough to see the vacuum lines. See if there all on tight, your right it could be that the vent duct are not in place right. make sure all the lines are good and the line going to the fire wall is good and hooked up. ** Other thing is that no mice have made old or new nests in the vents or heater box. I found this to be a problem a lot of the time or stuff has fallen in the top vent blocked off some of the vent some times. You should see the ducts if you take out the dash pad & face plate, then you check to see if there all hooked up good. There should be one cable and vacuum lines on the A/c control set up. On None A/c set up there cable, 1973-75 or 76 would have two cables with reg. Three cables with deluxe heater 1977 up only have two cables.
