hi,
originally my truck only had the hood release system via the grille on the outside. i conversed it and now i will be able to open the hood from inside the cab. everything is in place except for the puller and cable that has to go somewhere close to the foot brake pedal. i guess this was an option for the silverados back in the day? anyway,
can anybody help me with pictures from start to end, so where exactly is that puller (there is "hood" written on it)located, where exactly does the cable go through the firewall, under the hood, where does the cable run there? where in the radiator support is that cable going, to finally reach the locking mechanism.
this would really be a great help!
thanks everyone. kurt

Your's year did not have the option for it. But real easy to add the handle to the kick panel goes just under the vent vent door knob if it had none A/c or if A/c in the same place maybe just a little lower then. But must be as straight as can be, to go throw the fire wall down the left fender to rad support then there hole under the top plate of the rad support to the latch you should pretty much see it when looking at it. When notajuniorfan show you pic's you will See how easy it is. The handle " most where marked on the front hood white letters have two chrome screws one rubber fire wall plug that snug fit in the firewall. Now do you have the different set up for the hood release braces yet in the rad support . Do you have a free LMC book to see the one you will need. the grill will be different to will not have the hole in the front for your hand there.

hi pontiac, thanks for the answer, i have the original hood latch items to work with the inside cab hood release system, i bought it a while ago on e-bay, i just dont find the hole in the firewall that will fit the rubber plug that is on the release cable, you say that this option was not originally on my truck so maybe i will have to drill a hole in the firewall for the cable to go through.i have bought a billet grille.

On my 77 it was from the out side, and I put it in the inside cable but it had a knock out stamp steel plug for it. I believe the 1977 yr was the first year for the option or late 1976 might have had it to. So yes you will have to drill the hole in the firewall just make it a little bit small then the rubber file the edge of the hole to take off all the bur put a little grease on the out side of rubber pop it in to place.

hi , i have taken some pictures about places where the cable could be running; here you see lower right a hole where that rubber plug could go but the hole is too small...: here you see left to the radiator a hole in the radiator support, is this where the cable has to go in?: here you see some pictures of the hood latch and parts for the inside hood release system: am i right about the holes in the firewall and radiator support?

Well the rad support looks right. I going to the truck to day I look & see but think your close on the firewall.
Here hope this gives you good idea how low to the e-brake cable it is peddle Assembly bottom bolt to the left for this part the from 77-87 they are all in the same spot on the firewall.
