My Truck Story
1976 GMC ½ ton Long Bed Robin Egg BLUE 6 Cyl Automatic Nothing but Power steering Stripped to the core 97,000 miles
Why Start With Such Stripped Junker??
It was rust free, clean, and cheap, My 16 year old son wanted a project, insurance was practically nothing, and parts are easy to find……
This truck has been repainted panel by panel, all metal work hamered and sthingyed out. NO BONDO, urethane primer, base coat- clear coat- sand-polish, polish, polish, bright red with white lower two tone.
We added OEM air conditioning, power windows, power locks, tinted glass, upgraded dash from an 87 burb, and a factory Tach instrumentation.. Factory AM/FM cassette with a bazooka sub and 12 disc changer.
Tilt wheel with wipers and dimmers on the column.
Complete 87 wiring harness.
The seat is from a 93 Silverado with the little flip down arm rest. (this was a fun retrofit)
We added headliner, moldings, lights.
Changed out the tailgate to newer style.
Upgraded stainless steel mirrors, (we really wanted the “break-away” late 90’s burb- blazer power style but could not find any)
Newer style vent windows
Last….
350 4 bolt main Edelbrock performer carb and intake stock cam new HEI
Dual stainless steel exaust (stock cast iron manifolds)
2004R transmission
Vintage 15” slotted mags (fresh polish)
A year and a half later……… whats next

Sounds like quite the adventure. You can't call it yours until you personalize it, right?

Update July 2006
The old girl is still running!!! now on our 2nd 200r4 Transmission we now are way past the learning curve on the transmission area..... I still am a fan of the 200r4 because of the gear ratios, price of finding a good one, ease of installation in replacement of a turbo 350. as a buyer you need to really beware of all of the junk out there!!!!!
Next project is to take 2 1/2" down on the front and 4" in the back. and do this the right way! drop spindles and correct hangers seem to the best way to accomplish this..... then I believe that we will do rear disc brakes.......
Thats if for now!
