It's gettin to be that time of year when it gets real cold here in PA. I went to start up the chevy this mornin and it came right on. Then, I went to grab somethin to eat, came back out, and it wouldnt start. I checked the battery and it read good amperage. It's got good oil pressure and i smelled rich fumes so I know its gettin gas. I'm thinkin it's just not gettin enough spark? When I turn the key, it just wont turn all the way over. Any suggestions? Maybe it's the distributor? Is it tough to change the distributor cap/rotor? It's a 1982 Silverado 20 series..350..carb.

First off I answer the last question first easy just take one wire off at a time replace on the new one (Cap), so you get them on the right ones. Other then that should be basic straight forward. The cap only goes on one way same as the rotor. The coil will have to come off to get the cap off just put things back the way you take them apart..
Now you say it cold and you smell gas it might have flooded form the choke ? do you know if the choke is working right or sticking. If the choke is working right then it might be Coil, Cap, Wires, or Batt, ALT. Check all to make sure all are working
