The heater box under the dash has two or three bolt in the in side under dash holding, three nuts on the firewall in the engine bay side. First drain the rad until the level is down enough to work on the heater box ( lines ) "this might be a good time to maybe drain all the rad fluid & change all the rad hoses since the rad is empty( if the really old, starting crack, really hard, other thing to check would be thermostat and housing for pitting( if it's to badly pitted replace the housing ) .The side the cable have to be taken off be careful not the brake the tab's on the cables ( " take your time go slow there" ) try not to loose the clips, one should have a screw holding the base of the tab . After that it should come out . There will be 6 to 8 screes holding the heater core in the box. ( 4 on the core it's side's. 2 to 4 on cover brace look at it to see were and how it's held ( if it's got the new style plastic cover brace be careful not to brake it. Go slow there to. then re place new heater core back in the revise as to what you did to take it apart. This is for none A\c and is easier to do then A\c type . there is a little more to the A\c type but basically the same. Oh the book's I listed on the board will have this in them too.( other talk )

Well that a good question the bigger hose will goto the water pump to the firewall the bigger heater core pipe( 3\4), the smaller one goes to the front top of the intake manifold to the firewall the smaller heater core pipe( 5\8). Oh bye the way a little bit of WD-40 or something smiler will make the hose slide on easier ( do not forget to put on clamps before you put on the second part of the hose.

well there is a few more bolts but the process is about the same it's a little tighter to work if you have an the Big block with A\c. I forget for sure now on the A\c But I think heater core still come of in the in side. But I do not have time right now to double check, But maybe If some one that know for sure they can post. If I do not get a chance to double check before some one posts. **( with A\c disconnect battery ground cable )** drain rad take hoes off. Remove the glove box compartment & door, with the A\c remove the center duct to the sector duct to instrument panel, screws & the center lower duct center upper one. Disconnect air defroster, temp door cables. Remove if your has nuts from three selector duct studs sticking throw dash panel. Remove floor outlet and the defroster duct to heater distributor. Remove heater distributor to instrument panel screws, pull the assembly rear ward to gain access to the wiring harness and disconnect the wires attached to the unit. Remove the heater distributor module from the truck. Remove the heater core hold down straps screws take the core out. when ready to re in stall just do the reverse now. Oh make sure the core to core seal & dash seal are there & in place.
