my factory tach is in need of repair, there are some burn marks on the circuit board, I am looking for a replacement board, tach or somebody that can repair it, I located and contacted the "tachman" he wants $199,00 plus shipping to rebuild my old one. any ideas?

I believe the only thing your circuit board has to do with the tach is for the light, My truck is a '73 Gmc and my tach wasn't working either. But I found some great info at another site and it gave me the exact steps to fix it. If you pull the tach out, you should see 3 prongs labelled individually, 12volt, ground and coil or something like that. So you need a 12 volt source a ground and the last wire goes to negative on the ignition coil. That is if your ignition is of basic type, if you have HEI then it might be a little different. Check www.73-87.com . Here you will find full instructions, if you even still need them.

The circuit board is indeed a circuit board, there are different configurations for V/8 and 6 Cly... Long story short. Mine needed replacing, Yes I did ship it off and $200.00 later. it functions great!!!
