Hey guys,
Sorry I havent written much at all since moving, but not to worry, I am still restoring the 87. It is coming along quite well picking up parts here and there. Since my truck's gear shift indicator was broken, I bought one on eBay in good condition, only problem being now that I have no idea where the cable routes and the clip clips to. I clipped it to the plastic part on the column which rotates, but the cable rubs down the interior of the steering column, and it just pulls the orange dial out of its tracks since it is pulling it straight down. I thought maybe it was worn down too much, but it looks in excellent condition. Anyone have any clue as to how these hook up? Thanks to anyone with a clue.

It is supposed to be routed along the large part of the lower column housing, I will take a pic of mine and post it here for ya if you want...

Thanks for the info. Yeah, if it's not too much trouble and you happen to have the time, a picture would help a ton.

OK, I finally got my camera back...LOL Here's the pic.... Now, the cable just runs along the large part of the column that turns when you shift. The clip snaps onto the same part of the column.

It basically just pulls straight down out of the instument panel, and the column pulls it more to go into gear.
