Hey guys. My truck has a bit of 'cancer' like a lot of these old trucks. :shakin: LMC has a lot of the 'aftermarket' body panels but I'd sure like to find a source for original body panels. Anybody have some for sale or know anyone who does?

Vetnut, I usually scavage the salvage yards to find good body parts. It's alot of hit and miss trying to find good ones but I usually come out with better deals in the end. There is also a local parts place here that specializes in older vehicle restoration that gets body parts but the price is kinda high. Personally if I was to order body parts I would find a local dealer to get them for you, then you don't have to worry with damage during shipping.

I Live in Salt Lake where there is an aftermarket parts warehouse where they import this crap from Taiwan, I needed a bed side, and wanted to upgrade my doors for power windows and locks (77 and newer) let me give you my opnion.......
The doors are CRAP they sag all of the time and the metal is very thin. I have been scavenging wrecking yards for late model 90-91 suburban doors. with factory paint. so that I can replace the aftermarket parts.
I bought a bedside that fits rather well, with the exception of the lower front area ( a complete bolt up ) and the tail lamp opening is kinda funky...... not a bad part for $250.00 and the metal was better than the doors.
I have replace fenders in the past that seem to work pretty good.
I wish that there was a quality aftermarket source available and not the cheap over-seas stuff.

Goodmark Industries usually carry a "Made in USA" line that uses thicker/better steel. Not all of the panels are available in this line though. OEM ones are the best, but can be hard to find in most snowbelt areas.
Here's a link.... www.goodmarkindustries.com/GMCKTruck7380.html
Any of the parts that have the "GM Restoration" label on them are usually good quality, with better material and attention to detail.
