I'm not what you'd call "mechanically inclined" , so please bear with me... three days ago my transmission just quit. It will shift but not engage. If I put it in gear and put some gas to it, the transmission will creap along at a snail's pace. Some friends have mentioned a "govener" or "filter" that may be clogged, but, like I said earlier, I have no idea what and where these things are located, to my embarrassment. I keep the truck's ('87 Blazer) fluid levels up, and avoid any hard driving, altho the mileage is great, the truck has run wonderfully. Any words of assistance would be very helpful. Thanks, Tim ( uh...is that a doohickey or a thingamabob?)

It sounds alot like a torque convertor problem or clutches wore out. The first could be fixed yourself if you know your way around the engine-tranny area. Not trying to sound mean but you did say you werent mechanically inclined, so I am taking you know absolutely nothing. The torque convertor can be replcaed alot cheaper than replacing the clutches, with requires a tranny rebuild. My best advice would be, not having alot of knowledge on these parts, take it to a local tranny shop that does free estimates and trouble shooting to find out what is wrong and go from there.
