This is a really old thread, but I saw it and started tearing my bed down. I removed the million screws on the driver side, but there seems to be some small welds on the back corner of the bed (where the tailgate/rear bumper all kinda are). I thought it was just a bunch of screws. Why is mine welded? Also, all of the joints where the bed, fenders, and wheel wells meet had what seemed to be JB Weld or something. I had assumed it was wear rust damage had been fixed, but when I removed it there was no rust. It was nice black paint instead. I figure that my ugly yellowish paint was original. How do I find out my original paint color? Sorry this is so much, thanks for any help ya'll can offer though.

There is a differents between short step side bed and a long bed box.. The step side do not un bolt as nice as the long bed does. the stuff your talking about is called seam sealer and body shop that sell supplys should have it.
