Kool good to hear about the shelf it parts .So your pretty looky on the chrome piece you would not see to meany of them any more unless some had a stach of them. Been Yr's since I seen one of them on a truckin person, think some one had one on there truck on the board can't rember for sure were I seen it on line some place. I keep a I eye looking for you . So the motor looking good. Do you have a head liner or are you puting one in with the shelf it. I was thinking a few year back about puting one in. just never did keep think I would try to make my own, never happen yet.

Great job so far Kurt! Your project is coming along nicely. I love the attention to all the little details that you've obviously spent a lot of time with.

hi mike, yes it's true that i have spend a lot of time already on the truck. i started in 2004 and all i have (mostly) ever done since then is eat , breathe and sleep 73-87 gmc/chevy truck series. lol ! i have several lmc catalogs already , classic industries catalogs same story. i also can not thank all you guys enough for helping me out along the road!!respect !!
i do like the history of these trucks and getting to know all the parts and options and searching for pieces that are hard to find, i's a big puzzle, i love it !!
cheers !

hi, yesterday, friday evening after work, my friend Bart came over to my place to help me to ressurect the beast he had a new battery for me,this battery is different compared to other vehicle batterys because the + is on the other side , reason is safety because the battery is close to the metal sidefender , you can not buy these batterys in every car parts store here in Belgium, these are used only for old USA cars , but i have one , so, that is ok.he brought me also the coolant for the radiator( phew , there is alot of coolant going in to that radiator !he also had the oil for the steering pump( hard to reach part when everything is mounted in that big engine bay !)so everything filled up, we discarded the spark plug wires because they where old and weary and i had me some new ones installed (megafire 8.5mm )mostly because i have headers now on the motor.hooked up the electricity with the starter( fiddling under the truck to get these dag nabbit wires where i wanted them(also came along fine).the cable on the carb. for the gaspedal was ok but i also did mount the cruise control cable which wasn't good(it was mounted correctly with all original parts but it held back the gaspedal cable )so, for now we removed that cable and we will fix that problem later, the gaspedal cable moved along freely again, so that was ok. i had a can of gas , we connected the can with a fuel hose and the engine, i pourred a little gas in the carb, and ...ignition ! after a few tries the engine came alive ! imagine with the headers and no exhaust pipes, phew what a noise! dragrace time there was a flame coming out of my old rochester 2 barrel ( poor carb, lol !) all the dirt was immediatly gone , and a couple of spiders too ( how did these come in to that carb??) you should have seen them running ! ok, so now i know the engine works, cool, now i will have to hook up some gauges to see if they ( and my alternator) are working too ! oh yeah , before i forget it, one bummer , there is one of the transmission lines that has a crack so, some oil is spilled and 2 new flexible transmission lines are ordered! pics of the engine, battery, cruise control parts,... soon to come see y' all !

Cool! Great to hear the engine roar to life like that after all the down time isn't it? Yea, you'll get to address all the small little things that now show up too when it starts running - leaks, rattles, loose parts / etc...
But to me that's the fun part! Now you are beginning to reap the rewards of all your hard work!
Keep us posted!

hi everyone, here are some pics that show the cruise control setup. this is an original setup that was sold during the 73-87 era , in brand new condition! and here you see some new installed ignition wires, i had to change my stock ones because they were damaged and because they didn't fit the header setup. all that is left to go in the engine bay is a new condenser, compressor and the setup for the LPG. (and my dixie horn setup, lol!) okay, now that almost everything is mounted under the hood, i have put on the front fenders , the doors and the hood; because the truck will be painted soon (and i wanted to check how everything will look ). here you see (partly) the door , side fender and the hood a peek under the hood same here my new compressor cruise setup and the waterbottle
