Does anyone know what the slip yoke off the front drive shaft of an 85 1/2 ton with np208 transfer case is supposed to look like? Is it balanced? Does it have a keyway? Ect.....

The shaft is balanced, and I don't think it would fit together if it had a keyay. You could remove the shaft and take it to be balanced by a driveline shop, or you could just put it together and keep track of the splines and rotate until it stops vibrating

you can also drive the truck without the front shaft in 2wd :rocking: until you get it fixed

When a drive shaft is balanced it is like a tire, no matter which way you turn it there should be no vibrations. The key way I don't know about but you should be able to install it without having to be a certian spot to be balanced correctly.

I don't drive fast enough in 4wd for the balance to be a problem. the problem is that there is about 1/2 inch of play in the drive shaft where the shaft and yoke slip together. when i'm out fourwheeling this causes a horrible clanking noise that just sounds like something is about to explode. I think i might have the wrong yoke on my truck wich is where the questions come from. 700r4, NP208 transfercase. What should my driveline look like? Thank you for your input.

No one out there has a Np208 on a half - ton that can look at their front end and tell me what their slip yoke looks like?
