I found a truck as a friend of a friend type of deal. It's a 84 chevy std cab, std. bed. It has a newer 350, what year I dunno. It has a 4 speed and the first gear isn't a bull low gear. 4wd, truck started right up after being sat for a few years, new tires and newer style rims this year, uh. Needs heater core, major tune up, full exhaust(was gonna do it anyways), interior is beat, major rust in the fenderwells, and beneath the door sills. Some rust on the quarter and fenders. Floor pans solid as a rock, bed solid as a rock with a tonneau cover (old) on it. everything works. Guy wants it gone for $600. How cheap can I make this truck remotely cool?? I do all of my own welding, thats not a problem at all. I weld for a living but I imagine body parts are easy to come by for these trucks??

oh yeah, the guy that I am getting it from is an older guy that bought it as a daily driver but decided after he bought the truck that he wanted a new one so this truck sat. He paid 2500 a few years ago and my buddy thought he got a good deal then.

There a few places out there that have body parts yards still have a few hear and there it all depends how much you want to spend look to spend about $3000-$4500 but you if you can do most of the work & welding that will help now it you are going after market up date looks better + $5500-$8500 . And this on top on paint price sale price. if you go cheap & get old not top looking parts and do not care then you might be around $1000-$1200. Some of them places are listed on this site & what ever in your area that get parts or used sellers there.

I have to find out exactly what I am working with though, I have to run some serial numbers off of the heads, the block, and find out what internals I am working with too. It is supposed to have a newer 350 in it that was put in a few years back. The trans is a little noisy, it humms pretty well but some new synthetic should dampen some of that, I went to get it today and the guys couldn't find the dag nabbit title. He is going through a divorce so everyone knows that they are quite a headache and he has got paperwork everywhere. This week I should go back and get it. That sob started right up and drove as smooth as it may have when it was new actually, no play in the steering at all (at least under 40). I olny drove it around back roads. He has a car trailer and all tucked behind his backhoe that the guy that took me to pick it up is buying. Just needs a new deck and maybe tires and bearings at the most plus it is a twin axle with like 150lb of tongue weight. 600 took that baby too. 2 steals at one house. I will try and get picks

Who knows what the trans is out of, it has like a nice shifter and all with a fairly tight shift pattern. it has R (top left) 1 next to that, then 2, then 3, then it says OD where 4 should be. may have to run some numbers to figure what it is also.
