Thanks people, I did the body on the Chevelle too, but actually, I hate bodywork! I just do it to save the cash...lol I'm going with a lighter shade of grey than what's on the Chevelle...(you can see a bit of my Chevelle beside the truck in one pic...) It's not the first truck I've done, and this one was in much better shape than the first. The Velle is 2003 GM Medium Spiral Grey metallic, and I'm going with Light Spiral Grey for the truck. That's going to have to wait for the spring though. As much as I hate it, I'm going to have to get the truck cap painted, and put it back on for the racing season. The truck is our tow vehicle, and our stuff will have to be stored in the box of the truck. (I do NOT like a cap on my truck, but I need the room, and a tonneau cover doesn't give me enough... oh well, what do you do? )

Yeah.....I don't really like bodywork that much. I need to get a sander and some air tools and I think that I'll be alot happier. :rocking:

Only the sheet metal work is done with air or power tools, the rest is all manual labor. The most important required tool is a long board for sanding. If you don't use one, your panel will turn out likes waves on the ocean.

Maybe I'll just stick to mechanical stuff and fab. Let other people sand and I can paint.

Nothing wrong with that I guess, that's why there are body guys.
All in all, by the time you buy all the materials to do the work, it's not that much cheaper in the long run. The advantage is that you can do one panel at a time, and do it at your own leisure. If you have to wait to buy a panel, it's not an issue.

And experience is the best teacher.
I learn as I go. There is hardly a day go by that I don't find something new to put in the ol' database.

Man, that truck is really coming along great, Don. How does a long board help with sanding though? I have a sanding block, and my Bondo is STILL lookin like tons of waves on an ocean. I have had 50/50 luck so far. Half of my fills come out good, the remaining half don't. My right side door is in s uch poor condition though so I am not sure if I should waste my time filling in more and more of it. It's not too bad to where I want to scrap the whole door, but I have a feeling that even after pounding, it's going to require a rediculous amount of bondo and look poor. I'll have to take some shots of the work I have done and have yet to do, which I probably should of done from the beginning for comparison. Guess I got a little anxious and jumped the gun. Just wanna get 'er dun before the end of summer, even though paint will not be until next year. I hear what you mean about them caps. They are annoying as can be and reduce too much visibility, and not to mention, make it look like a phoney SUV. But, what CAN you do when you need the enclosed space? Anyhow, great work, Don, keep us posted when it's paintin time.

It's probably going to go grey with a metallic orange scallop on the side. The colors of our race team. But not 100% sure yet on the orange.
No, I don't build trucks for a living, I normally just fix them when they come into the dealership, but thanks for the compliments.
