Hey, how is everything, its rainy and boring in Newfoundland. I'm looking to buy a new HEI distributor for my 86 GMC 350, what are good ones out now, I see these ones on Ebay for 49 dollars and others for 160 dollars, any help would be great.

Profourm dist.I think is one of the cheapest or D.U.I. dist. you can try to get a cheap one in your area. Then buy NEW bushings, NEW pickup. Test all the other parts in the top in the yours & the one you pick up. just make sure your pins are not wore out where the springs go, and the shaft turns . If you know how to work on the dist. Most times there not to hard to work on. I paid around $200.oo for a ACCEL dist. about 17 or 18 years ago I done about three in my trucks so far. If it is just stock set up and you can do it this cheaper way to do it . If not try to get the cheapest you can for what one has what you want. both these company at the top have site on the net. do a little looking and reading on them. The biggest thing that set them apart is the bushing and the shim other then the top components, and how good they custom tailored the advance cure.If it not got a custom tailored the advance cure then it's just the top part that matter.

www.accel-ignition.com/pdf/Coils.pdf Pg 13 top this looks like there cover this is a Accel patten part. looks like they took of the sticker painted red. And the dist looks like it could be from Accel to but I would like to know what under the cap. as to what parts they got there. the coil looks like a stock GM replacement www.accel-ignition.com/pdf/Distributor_Accessories.pdfpg 26 top. well for 45 bucks I guess it OK for stock that looks nice like that. The good thing is the ADJUSTABLE VACUUM ADVANCE:/ coil maybe if it's that high. and well I grind and sand hand POLISHED ALUMINUM SHAFT on the GM stock units do this for one main reason so oil run down faster. The second would be it looks nice if you see it out side the motor. lol control module, pic up,condenser, advance cure kit. he really does say that is set up for high performance. as long as it's new you can add some of the better parts to it you like later. Any way that my 2 cents I let other say some thing about it or what they think.
