I'm in Kansas. Bought a truck out of Iowa and Kansas Highway Patrol is looking for their handout (inspection). For some reason the vin in the dash is not sufficient enough to be approved. They said they need a second. After extensive research on the Internet I've come up with nothing. The truck has been repainted so the one in the door jam is gone, motor has been replaced, no stickers in the glove box. The truck is a 1981 Chevy Cheyenne. Does anyone know the general location of another VIN?

Is the sticker in the glove box. The frame is hard to see unless you sand blast ( I never sand blasted the 81-87 to really see how close the same area's for the frame Vin's. I had one that I had striped down but it was really rusty I did see any thing on it. It was no good, If I could have got it sand blasted for free before crushing it I would have so all would have the info. Un till some give me another 81-87 frame that clean enough to find the them I can't post 100 % on the 81-87 frames. Up here in Canada north east the salt can chew up the frames bad.
Well looks like you got motor by ALT, on the block. (engine gone) maybe the air cleaner lid mostly on the 73-80 for this place some time but maybe your lucky. Glove box, driver door but again you say it painted is it gone or did they paint over it.
You could try to sand blast your frame from the bottom/backside of the cab to the front rails. and be the one with the info for that.

Ya nothing in the glove box and the previous owner painted over the one in the door jam or took it off. Kansas Highway Patrol sucks!
