I have a 1974 3/4 Ton with dual tanks. I have read post on this site and it seems this issue for the pegged past full fuel gauge is a bad ground or possibly bad 12V power wire. I got under the truck and dont know where to look for the ground. Is the ground under the tank or tanks? Or is it in the open and I am just missing it?

Hi (ground) tank should be on the right at the top of the tank, sending unit to the frame. It should black wire from the sender to the frame you may have to drop the tank to get a good fix on it just behind the cab of reg. Cab up to a foot or less. If the send top is really rusted it will have to cleaned , unless the frame side is the bad side. It's tight there. I have a flat bed So I do not have to drop the tank most of the time. Test the wire with a jumper wire to find out if the wire no good or the frame side hook up or the sending unit side.

Hi both tanks have grounds from the sending units so there is 6 to 10inches from the sending unit to the frame should be a 1/2 inch bolt with grab washer not the right name, roundish open spade that the metal tap bolt.( self taper ) that broken with in the 6 - 10 inches from the tank.

It might be the bottom of the cab above the tank. near the rear cab mount brace. I been a long time since I taking a look at it. I think a may have moved mine the frame for a better ground.
