I own a '66 Step-side but joined this site to find out if any one here knows how to implant a pre '81 cruise control into my truck. I work in a wrecking yard so the parts will be available to me but I don't know where to begin. ie schematics, directions (how-to), which years-models will work. One more note, I am using am '87 DeVille steering column. I am fairly competent with wutomotive wiring.

hey, i have a 1980 gmc pick up with cruise control setup i implanted afterward since it wasn't in my truck originally. i am not sure if my 1980 setup fits your '66 because my model of truck started in '73... if you want, check my photos pages, the cruise control setup is in it. and if you should have any questions, fire away!

Well I would say that anything that was 87 or older that did not have fuel injection unless you have changed the motor. Your set up is on a carb If it is I would try to find a carb that as close to yours with the Cruise Control brackets and and mounting points. this will make it easier to set up then try get the whole wiring from the donor car or truck . Oh 73-80 trucks had Cruise Control, might have be easier to swap over to a 66 truck depending on motor you had. I can try to see if I have a wiring pic on the Cruise Control set up . Here a Pic of Cruise Control part on the inner fender of a 79 truck one of our members
