hi, the condenser i ordered a while ago has arrived,it's a 1980 model: here the condenser is installed : there is a small part that i am still missing, it is located between the condenser and the compressor lines: here you see the tubings of the condenser where that missing part needs to go on: because of ths, i am not able to connect the condenser to my A/C setup yet... i also bought an engine oil cooler in the past, now that the condenser is mounted , i was able to prepare the cooler and mount it too: the cooler still needs to be hooked up on the engine.

do you think that the oil cooler hanging in front of the radiator will effect the temperature of the engine , will the radiator be cooler or hotter on one side because of the oil cooler hanging in front of it?

today, i have been busy with my shelf-it. a shelf-it, is a shelf that was sold during the 73-87 era, it is a shelf that goes below the headliner close to the windshield. it was made by pace edwards, who is still making truck parts today. i have spend a year searching for a shelf like that , they were discontinued. via e-bay i have found one a while ago now.it was red colored but hey, i couldn't be picky about the color , i was glad that i had found a shelf alltogether. Being a regular buyer of lmc truck parts i usually have the latest catalogs also, guess what they sell again in the catalog, yes, that shelf! and even more , they have the deluxe kit that comes on it too! Here is what that shelf looks like with the deluxe kit mounted on: the deluxe kit is like a storage case with room for a cellular phone,...and also two cigarette lighter entrances to charge up stuff. the sunvisors go under the shelf, the holes in the roof where the sunvisors went are now used to mount the brackets of the shelf. that's all folks !

with the shelf -it finished, i noticed my air horn lying around, so i thought while i am at it let's try to mount these too. i did spend a lot of time thinking where i could mount these because there were some problems.first of all there are 5 horns and the air compressor, and 2 meters of air tubing (which is not much i think). i have read some articles on the web about the mounting and some good places etc...the most common idea of people is that the horns should be placed horizontally but that is not entirely true, they work just the same facing down. so; facing down works better for me because i need to hide away 5 horns, lol! believe me, it works, it's the dixieland tune over here the horns are actually illegal so, because an american truck gets a lot of attention here i dicided not to mount them under the hood(to easy to find , lol !). Here is where they are( off course you can always find the horns if you want to but a fast looker will not notice them.) they are next to the driversside headlight partially hidden by my 1980 headlight bezel , my grille (the horns will be painted black),my grille filler panel and the front bumper. the air compressor needed to be close to the horns , away from heat and protected against water so i decided to mount it under my aux. battery tray.undetectable too there, haha ! so , another work that is done, on to the next!

i don't believe i've posted some pictures of my truck bed yet. the blue on the bedmat is spraypaint dust, a little swoop will get rid of that in the future it's all still protected in sheets because the garage is not very wide and i need to get around the truck a lot. there will go an LPG tank in the truck, a roll bar (double /single) and two bed side storage boxes in the future. still in need of a lot of parts( and cash)

thanx for the comments pontiac, i guess the shelf -it will come in handy ! ok, next step, mounting of the cb antenna. previous holes were drilled by myself in the roof, holes for the roof marker lights(in the past when i was busy with that i made pictures of the setup but i didn' have the camera i have now so, the pictures were really crappy, i 'll post a few when i mount them in the final setup, i promise ! ;)alo,g with the drilling of the holes back then came the measuring and positioning of the holes, one step in the positioning was finding the middle of the roof, which i did back then.i never erased the markings because the roof has to be repainted in tenear future and i will get rid of them then. i am going to drill a hole in the middle of the roof for the cb antenna, i have read that installing your cb antenna in the middle of the roof is the best spot, so... i have bought a president carolina cb antenna, not the top of the heap but it will do for my purpose whic is talking to my buddys when we are cruising . here is a picture of the antenna: here is a picture of the markings on the dusty roof look closely and you'll see where some of the roof lights will go: center roof spot: drilled hole: inside cab, roof, i made a small ditch to guide the antenna cable. that is it for now because i don't have the headliner yet. as of today (2008 12 july) i do !

My quest, "the search for parts" continues, i bought myself the tailgate running lights. these were usually found on the big dualley (big dooley) pick up trucks, you know, those with the double set of rear wheels. i think these lights look really cool in the dark so,... Before i started the setup, i checked the internet for pictures of the lights on trucks and i also looked for information about how to do the wiring in the tailgate, and how to exit the tailgate. Of course i didn't find anything usefull(about the wiring)so i'll see for myself and write it down here, it might come in handy in the future for someone, who knows, right? here is a picture of the tailgate running lights, after checking some pictures,it seems this is the most common spot to mount them: these are the runninglights new . first i decided where they had to go, in a straight line, 3 in the middle, two on the side. here i have drawn a line in red and i have already marked the spots where the screws and the wiring has to go. (sorry for the crappy picture) Here the holes are drilled, the bigger hole is for the wiring because the splicer needs to get in there. here is the result, just to give an idea: the wiring will come later , after the paint job.

OK since no one has answered this I give you some Places to check. OK I had got this on the after marked I think I got it from Summit Racing. There made like some of the new 1997 and up years F O R D 's high options car with power windows . I got and after market power window motor one of my LeMans that did not come power window's. But what I want to do is not have to look for the rubber that goes at the hing to keep the wires safe, going through frame to the door. Here How it works there is two contacts on springs . That you have to line up . So you run wire from the fuse power to one side pin ( these come from 2,3,4 contacts). Then the same color wire runs from the other side to what ever you hook up then the same your next option then one has to be ground or use ground on the body depending on how you set up the wiring. Now this has only one draw back the door options only have power when the door is closed,( contacts touch) or in your case if used on the gate the lights will only light up when the gate is closed And or you have the lights on . You can wire in to the running lights of your tail light. But since your hooking up the roof lights too I would either have a switch power from a key source power on just in case you forget them on once you turn the truck off the lights go off. Use acc. on fuse. I would up your flasher relay to one of the one with a higher rating of light 6-8 light the round one. The ones you use for towing a trailer buy a good electronic one. Now I hope this might get some question answers for you or this might help you ;D Pontiac1976
