This happened kind of suddenly. One day I went out to start my truck after sitting a week or so, when I turned the key to the "crank or start" position it wanted to stay there. I had to physically turn it back to the run position. Now it is like this every time. The key turns ok to the run position and it feels normal when you turn to the crank position but has significant resistance or drag when you try to turn it back to run. I sprayed WD40 into the cylinder lock and around it but that didn't really help much. I was wondering if anyone here knows what is wrong or where to start looking for the problem?
Thanks

Just wanted to add to my previous post. The key cylinder does feel sticky and a little hard to turn in any position and will completely stick in the crank position.
If no one has any ideas I may just try another ignition key cylinder. That shouldn't be very difficult to change.

In regards to your IGN problem, it might be the rod in your steering column...could be worn ,not sliding up and down smoothly when you turn the key to the different positions...I encountered a similar problem with the column I took out of my '86 and put in my '87. I asked a mechanic friend who is very famillar with GMC/CHEV trucks and that is what he told me. I didn't change mine 'cause it was opposite of your problem (hard to get into the lock position).
