Hello to everyone!
I have a 1978 454 C10 truck and I wanted to ad some headers to the truck soon. Do you guys have any favorite brand or style of header that you would recommend?
Those "Patriot" Clipper Style look like the might fit and be easy to install too!?!
Let me know what you think, Thanks

My cousin but a set of the ceramic coated Flowtechs on his 72' and had the truck for about a year and i never saw one spec of rust on them. I plan on putting some on my truck soon, but i'm in CA and am still waiting for my truck to be smog exempt, which really sucks, cause it's about a 40-50 HP increase on a small block

I JUST INSTALLED A PAIR OF HOOKER COMPETITION HEADERS ON MY 454,AND A PAIR OF 40 SERIES FLOWMASTERS.THE HEADERS FIT GREAT.THEY HAVE NICE THICK FLANGES WHERE THEY BOLT TO THE HEAD.NO EXHAUST LEAKS YET.I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY BIG BLOCK RUNS ALOT BETTER.REALLY GOOD THROTTLE RESPONSE.

Thanks for the info guys!
tcrush,
How difficult were those headers to install? Also what year is your truck?
Most stock Big Blocks as I understand it will perform much better once the exhaust and intake are more free flowing.
So far I have installed a 2.5" aluminized system with 50 series flowmasters. I plan to add headers sometime in the future. I am also thinking of installing a Corvette L82 air cleaner assembly with a K&N filter to help it breath a little better.
So far the exhaust sounds sweet. IMO flowmasters sound the best!

HEY TEXASDEERE.MY TRUCK IS A 1977 GMC HEAVY HALF TON,SHORT BED.THE DRIVER SIDE HEADER I HAD ON IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES.THE PASSENGER SIDE BECAUSE OF THE STARTER WAS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT.AFTER ALL THE TWISTING AND TURNING IT FINALLY FALLS INTO PLACE.ONCE IT WAS IN PLACE EVERY THING LINED UP PERFECTLY.I ALSO JACKED UF THE FRONT WITH A FLOOR JACK TO GET AS MUCH CLEARANCE AS POSSIBLE.IM AMAZED AT HOW MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE THE HEADERS AND THE 40 SERIES FLOWMASTERS MADE ALONG WITH THE 3 INCH EXHAUST.I PICKED UP ALOT OF POWER.I CAN LIGHT UP THE TIRES ALL THE WAY DOWN THE ROAD.IT SOUNDS GOOD TO.I ALSO HAVE AN EDELBROCK RPM MANIFOLD WITH A 750 EDELBROCK CARD.I WILL BE INSTALLING A COMP CAM SOON.BIG BLOCK POWER IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT GAS MILEAGE YOU GET.

I have installed headers on several 80s trucks with big blocks. If you have the truck on jackstands or on the hoist it is a peice of cake installing headers. Especially if your use to camaros or something like that. Just remember to take the spark plugs out first. You will prbably brake one if you don't. I have never put headers on a 4x4, that might be a little tighter, but can't be too bad.
