If money wasn't an issue, which would you rather have in the engine bay of your truck.

Well I have to say that if money wasn't a problem I would diffently have a big block in my truck. The thought of having 550+ ft.lbs. of tire shredding torque on a nice flat curve would be sweet. The power range would be idea for street driving, although gas milage would suck. Thats where the "money wasn't a problem" issue would come into play.

Yeah, if money wasnt an issue in ANY way, a big block would be awesome since it wouldnt particularly matter if you had to have a new racing transmission built for it every month and new heads every other month. Big blocks do have a lot of huevos. 454s have pretty decent power, although Chrsler's 440 was one powerful SOB stock. GM's 500 was pretty dang powerful too. My first car was a 68 Caddy with one of those bad boys. Donuts have never been the same since that car.. Then I remember when I got my .. well, 2nd car, I was offered a choice between a 67 Ply Belvedere II w/a 440 A/T, or the car I came to own, a 68 AMC Rebel 6 cyl, 3 spd manual. After they saw all the power that 440 could produce, they kind of took away my "option". Oh well, I wouldnt have looked forward to constantly working on that Mopar junk anyways. Instead I get the torment of working on an AMC that takes 2 months to find parts for. God I love my Chevy.. Since money is and probably always will be an issue, I will keep my small blocks and small inline engines and juice as much power out of them as I can.

I love the sound of a big block with a rough idle. I test drove my truck before i got it like 4 times. and that big block had torque to spare. I would be sitting next to somebody at a stoplight. and they would just stare...And it would light them up from a stand still. I would say. if money wasnt any problem. I would rebuild the 455 with all new parts and rebuld the 400turbo transmission. and just have soem fun.

Well, I just dropped a 502 GMPP crate motor in her yesterday. Still hooking up all the peripherals. I choose the monster..ZZ502 deluxe..502hp, 567ftlbs. Should be able to pull the 43ft Chaparrel with 2 cars inside. :drive:

It'd be great to have a fresh Vortec 8100 to drop in my 77 K20. Heck, throw in the Allison 1000 automatic, too.

I would drop a 572 GMPP in...They'll crank ou almost 600 h.p. STOCK!!! The hard part would be beefing up the drivetrain to handle all that torque!

If money wasn't an issue, I would throw in a blown and an elctronic fuel injected, aluminum headed tire shredding, rear end busting 500 cubic inch HEMI.

I think it would be one of the Small block 454 or 427 motor that are out from Dart, or World, both have pretty nice 454 small block. (these SB stock form both put out more hp & tq then a stock big block) lots of HP & TQ to Go.... motor wise and lighter then then the BB 454 (by 250lbs a factory SB)

Small blocks look wimpy. Too much extra space under the hood of a chevy truck. Gotta have that Big block under there. My old big block in my truck was a 71 chevelle 402 with 250.000 towing miles and no rebuild or repairs. Now that someone stole that I have a fresh 427.
