i have a 78 chevy and i can not tell when it is out of four wheel drive, is there away that you can tell. well all i do is drive it around my yard so i can not tell but i am geting ready to restore it

I'm not a 4x4 guy but I would do a light brake stand. If just your rear tires are only spining then your out right.. i think

On my '79 GMC 4x4 - 4 Lo is close to the dash and as you pull the stick towards the seat is N then 2wd then 4 Hi is closest to the seat. This is my first 4x4 and after using it a bit I could tell when its in 4x4 because I could feel the front pull the truck not just the push from the rear...if that makes any sense to you?
