I have not notched mine yet, but may have to soon. If you have the right tools it does not look that hard. basically you have a pattern you draw on your frame(that will come with your kit) Cut out section (idealy with a plasma cutter cause its smoother cut. Or a touch/saw). Once cut mark holes to mount bracket and drill. Then you can bolt on. Some also weld that notch for strength but not a must. Hope that gives a better idea good luck.

It is not that hard. I did mine with a saw zaw. You do have to take the bed off. There will more than likely be 12 bolts on each side. You are also going to have to notch the last rear bed support if you are running lowering shackles in order for them to clear the bed. Have any more questions just ask.

I just finished lowering my 78 shortbed. I used parts from DJM suspension. First the front, I installed lowered lower comtrol arms and lowered springs for a total of a 5 inch drop. In the rear I used thDJM deluxe flip kit. If you don't put a lot of weight in the bed of the truck you won't need to c-notch the chassi. I just installed BF Goodrich 275/60R15's, they will fit perfectly and fill up the wheel well nicely. I have about 3 inches of clearence between the rear axle and the frame. Hope this helps.

yeah the frame will clear with just a flip kit.but that only drops it 5" and if you drop it 5" in the front you will still have a tilt in it if you want it leveled out you need the 2" shackel and then the frame gets close and will hit on a good bump in the road.

This is all good info. I am currently running 275/60/15's on the rear of my truck also and was looking to do the spring flip in the rear. But I am hoping to just use drop spindles in the front to level the truck out some. I don't carry much in the bed of my truck so the clearance should be fine. Stan, If you can would you post some pics of your truck, I would like to see how your tires look in the wheel wells after the spring flip.
