The new (old ) rear axle I got was indeed a 3.08 with a bonus....Positraction! Thanks for all the help with me trying to figure out my gear ratio's, axle setups, etc., Big Kudo's go out to Bowtieguy and Pontiac1976! Now all I need to do is a tuneup and oil change, but those I can do myself......Larry

Glad things are working out for you. I glad I could help out in some small way, glad the Bowtie Board is here and helped out another fan of the 73 - 87 Body style ppl= (people) . Oh the 3.08 gear is a good all around driver gear but still has some ophmp when you need it. Posi ( limited slip diff. ) is good for getting moving good from a stop. kool in-joy

Took it on the Eway today, caught up with high speed lane drivers, and I was only going 60mph.....lol. I think I may need to change speedo gear, also no more harsh shifting of the tranny, everything is nice and smooth, also cannot hear exhaust at 70, rpm must be super low. Will have to get a tach.

OH, and another thing I forgot to say, the father of the guy that did the exchange for me, bought my old 3.73 for a hundred bucks and I don't have to store it!
